DSL and Wireless Broadband Services

There are a variety of Broadband (High-Speed) Internet options available for Stevens County
and other eastern Washington areas including Spokane.
Here follows a brief explanation of each type followed by pricing:

DSL This high-speed option is delivered through your existing phone line and allows you to use your phone at the same time that you are are using the internet. Options and prices vary slightly depending upon your Telephone Company (Qwest or CenturyTel). You can order speeds from 256kbps to 7 mbps. By way of comparison your old modem has a theoretical capability of 56kbps. DSL is primarily available in the main urban centers of eastern Washington such as Spokane, Colville, Chewelah, and Kettle Falls; however it is not exclusive to these areas and it is always worth a check to see if it is available where you are.

Wireless Wireless high-speed internet is transmitted from one of our many towers to an antenna installed on or near your residence. The antenna has a small footprint and can take two different forms. In its largest form it looks like an 18" Satellite TV receiver. Speeds can range from 384 kbps to 2 mbps based on location and orientation to the tower. The setup charge is somewhat more than for DSL, but the monthly charge is the same as for the average 1.5 mbps DSL feed. No phone line is required, and a wireless feed plugs into a standard Ethernet interface. Our Wireless system operates in the 5Ghz range, unlike the customary 2Ghz range of 80211.x technology. This minimizes interference. Wireless is available in most locations in Colville and Kettle Falls and in the Colville valley. It has a 15 mile range and so is often available where DSL is not.

Plix
Accelerator
The Plix Accelerator is not, strictly speaking, a Broadband service, but it can increase dial-up speeds dramatically by 2 to 7 times. When DSL or Wireless or not an option, the Plix Accelerator may be an acceptable alternative to get faster access to the internet. You can find out more about it here.
