Setting up a new Connection |
Checking an existing Connection
Click the "Start" button in the
lower left corner of your screen. Next click "Control Panel".

In Control Panel click
"Network and Internet
Connections".

In Network and
Internet Connections, click on "Network Connections".

Click on
"Create New Connection".

On the "Welcome to
the New Connection Wizard screen", click Next.

Select the option,
"Connect to the Internet", click Next.

Select the option, "Set up my connection
manually", click Next.

Select the option,
"Connect using a dial-up modem", click Next.

Type "Internet
Xpress" in the connection name window, click Next.

Type in the correct dial up number in the Phone number window. In
Colville use: 640-0100 NOTE: This number will not work
outside of Colville (most 684 or 685 prefix areas). All
other areas use: 685-2188. Click Next.

In most circumstances
the Connection Availability option should be for: "Anyone's use", click
Next.

Type
your user name and then your password in the appropriate boxes. Your
password MUST be entered twice, once in password and once in confirm
password. Both username and password are case
sensitive, so make sure that you've typed in all lower case letters.
Place a checkmark
next to "use this account name and password...", so that your
computer will already have your user name and password when you go to
connect. If you do not check this box, then you will have to type this
information any time that you connect to the internet.
Place a check next to
"make this the default Internet connection".
Remove the check from
next to "turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this connection". (Many
of our clients are unable to connect with the firewall activated. We
recommend not activating this feature until you are more familiar with the
XP operating system.)
Click Next.

Place a check in the box next to,
" Add a shortcut to this
connection to my desktop". Click Finish.
